Throne Stool and Pew Stool Are In

The 2015 Wood Awards Shortlist

The Throne Stool and the Pew Stool have been sleceted to be part of the 2015 Wood Awards Shortlist.

The Wood Awards are the UK’s premier competition for excellence in architecture and product design in the world’s only naturally sustainable material. The Awards aim to recognise, encourage and promote outstanding design, craftsmanship and installation using wood.

As part of the Wood Awards shortlist the Throne Stool and the Pew Stool will be exhbited at 100% Design during the London Design Festival.

Torsten Sherwood has been selected as one of the five finalist in the AJ Hoare Lea Bursary for his proposed project to design and build a new bird hide on Rutland Water.

As a site of special scientific interest, the reservation bringing Ospreys back to Great Britain and the location of the worlds largest wild life festival, Bird Fair; Rutland Water is a very special place and the intent of this project is to design and build a bird hide that is suitably special and dignified for this special place.

Although small the intent of this project is to explore a craft approach to architecture; blurring the lines between the architectural scale and the craftsmanship of furniture.
